Bluebonnet Logs Due January 27![]() Texas Tornado Read to AcheiveThe Texas Tornado Hockey Team has a fantastic reading program and they are bringing it to Folsom! Players will visit our campus on January 11th to read to students as we kick off (face off!) for our spring reading challenge. Each grade level will complete the challenge assigned to them as they grow as readers and appreciators of books. In exchange for their participation, students can earn a ticket to the March 31st hockey game! Each grade's log is provided under the "Files" section of my webpage.
Students have until March 9, 2011 to complete their mission and the game will take place at the Dr. Pepper Center in Frisco on 3/31 at 7:30pm. The free tickets will be distributed the week of March 26th, along with any adult tickets purchased. Stay tuned for more information on discount ticket purchases for other members of the family as we make it a Folsom Family night of fun. Requirements to earn the free ticket: Kinder/1st: Students will read/listen to ten books and turn in their log listing the titles. 2nd Grade Series Superstars: Students will broaden their horizons as they try out new series, whether picture books or chapter books. They will select and record three books from four different series for a total of twelve books on their logs. 3rd Grade Genre Geniuses: Diversity is reading is important for third graders and the Genre Genius Grid helps keep track of the many different types of books available for them to try. 4th Grade Author Study: Our oldest readers will pick an author and read three of their books. They will be looking for links in what makes them similar or if the author tries to keep their stories distinct. Thank you for supporting your student as they grow as a reader. Want to Volunteer in the Library? We love our volunteers! If you have a little extra time, we would love for you to help out in the library. Our wonderful parents assist with check in/out, shelving, and lesson activities. No amount of time is too little since it is easy to knick away at the work bit by bit.
If you are interested in helping, please email Karen Lossing at kalossing@prosper-isd.net. ![]() HOW TO FIND BOOKS IN OUR LIBRARY CATALOGStudents can view Folsom's catalog from computers that are off campus. Vist our Destiny link by following these steps:
